What is environmental history?

There are several definitions of environmental history, however all agree that environmental history examines the interaction between humans and nature in a historical context. It uses multidisciplinary methods and includes a good number of sub-disciplines, such as climate history, history of pollution and water history. In the world of global environmental problems, changes became faster and more visible. Therefore environmental history is a rather new discipline. That is why our field needs young and ambitious scholars, who are ready to interpret the history that bears so much significance for the future.
